HASNT HAPPENED SINCE (2012)

Spaces are haunted by the many bodies that successively inhabited them over time, leaving spectral traces of their presence. In this piece ‘HASNT HAPPENED SINCE’ I aim to push taboos back into our more immediate consciousness, freeing them of the labels that have been contrived to ward them off. The camera eye plays a significant role surveying the space. While designing this installation, linger questions remain and are exhibited by the objects that are present. What does a space conjure and say about eradicated Queer histories and the identities attached? And does the process of documentation translate as surveillance or spectacle? And much like those who experienced these histories, are visitors just interacting with their own sexual cognitive, or are they “waiting for something to happen?”
