CITY HAS NO STARS/ACT I (Los Angeles)

James Perley has been invited to perform "CITY HAS NO STARS/ACT I" at the LA LGBT Center in Hollywood. After returning from Berlin, Germany, James is excited to bring this work back to the United States and to perform this work in Los Angeles! This is the first act of a work in process, a ‘virtual’ operetta which opens in a semi-improvisational conversation with himself as a young boy. CITY HAS NO STARS was originally conceived as a written memoir, but as the years progress, James’ memoir becomes his present. This performances examines his personal histories growing up in both rural and urban climates in the United States, while navigating his desires for music, performance while also balancing his queer identity.
